Joining Ceremonies

Unique and Unforgettable

Your ceremony, your way

Unique and unforgettable

Moonstone is the gem of romance and passion. It is the ancient token of undying love...

At Moonstone we will work in partnership with you to create your perfect ceremony which is personalised, meaningful and memorable. It will reflect you as a couple, respecting your beliefs, values and culture. You can integrate spiritual elements into your service. These can include Shamanic ritual, handfasting, unity candles, jumping the broom, sand ceremonies or none.

Norfolk has an amazing resource of beautiful locations. Your ceremony can take place anywhere you like as long as it’s safe and you have permission to be there; the options are limitless. Judy is the go-to celebrant for informal weddings in natural surroundings, although we love some of the amazing wedding venues we have in East Anglia!

At Moonstone Ceremonies we will work with you to devise an order of service, help you to write your vows, incorporate spiritual elements and include readings and music to meet your wishes. Our ceremonies are designed and tailored just for you.

Marriage - The legal bit

For your union to be recognised in law, and a marriage certificate to be issued, you must contact the register office local to you and give notice of impending wedding. You will be married by a registrar with two witnesses present who are known to you.

It involves three basic steps:

  1. Declaratory Words

"I do solemnly declare that I know not of any lawful impediment why I (your name) may not be joined in matrimony to (partners name)"

  2. ContractingWords

"I call up these persons here present to witness that I (your name) do take thee (partners name) to be my lawful wedded wife (or husband)" (this wording will vary slightly for couples forming a Civil Partnership)

  3. The signing of the register; nothing more

Important: It cannot include any religious, spiritual or ceremonial elements – That’s our role!

Choice of venue:

  1. A simple service with yourselves and two witnesses who are known to you, which takes place in the register office before your ceremony and costs about £50. Then on to your chosen location where we will mark your union with a true ceremony.
  2. A licensed venue to which the registrars will travel. It will cost between £425 - £700 depending on day and venue. There are legal constraints about where in the venue the registrars can work. We can provide a ceremony that dovetails with the registrars’ role.
